UKTradeStreet helps customers get in touch with reliable and professional tradesmen in their area, be they builders, planners, architects etc. We cater for home owners wanting to improve their homes, perhaps you need a painter, carpenter or roofing contractor. Also commercial companies with larger scale projects such as building fit outs, shop conversions etc.
How does it work?
It's really simple:
- Describe what you need doing, where you are, and when you'd like to start.
- You receive quotes from UKTradeStreet registered tradesmen.
- Choose your tradesman - we put you in direct contact with up to 3 qualified tradesmen in your area.
- Provide feedback so everyone can see how well your tradesman performed.

How much does it cost?
It is completely FREE to customers. Tradesmen pay us a small fee to quote for jobs.

How do I join?
We need your email address, name, address and a contact number. It takes less than a minute to join. We respect your privacy and will only use this information to find a tradesman for your job. If you ask us to remove you from our database or stop sending quotes, we will do this immediately.

What kind of tradesman are there on UKTradeStreet?
Only those that are willing to deliver a higher quality of service, we take care to attract the right tradesmen. Many tradesmen join us through direct recommendation from other members, others are reference checked before we allow them to join.
We take time to speak with new applicants and reserve the right to refuse membership. We recommend their certification of trade associations is up to date, as well as their public liability insurances.
How many quotes can I get?
Up to 3 quotes, or more or less if you prefer. We'll do the chasing for you, if one tradesman is busy we'll find others to quote.
How do I know when a tradesman wants to quote?
We'll send you an email with the tradesman's contact details. In the email you'll find a series of quick links which take you directly to your account where you will see a history of responses to your jobs as well as contact numbers.
What if I change my mind?
Please tell us ASAP so we can stop contacting trades people on your behalf.
What if I have enough quotes?
Again, please tell us ASAP so that we know to stop contacting tradesmen.
Why can't I just pick a tradesman from a list?
We think this is a better way. You get quotes from quality trades people who have been vetted by people like you, and who belong to recognised trade associations. In most cases they come referenced checked and recommended by their customers.

What Is UKTradeStreet?
UKTradeStreet is a site that notifies you the tradesman of jobs in your area relevant to your business. Customer post their jobs to the site, then we notify you if it's in your area and the type of work you're interested in. We cater for the home domestic market i.e. customers needing a painter, plumber etc. As well as for commercial customers needing building conversions, shop fitters etc.
How Does It Work?
It's simple - just 6 easy steps:
- You register your business, letting us know where you're based, the types of work you do and the distance you're willing to travel.
- Customers post jobs to the site describing the work they want done, address, when they want to start and approximate budget.
- You receive email and SMS notifications of jobs in your area matching your trade(s) i.e. carpenter, decorator etc.
- You choose what work you want to quote for by logging onto the site and clicking Submit Quote on a job. You enter details of your quote, this could be an estimated price or asking the customer for more information or to see the job.
- You're then free to discuss the job directly with the customer and agree a visit.
- Obtain feedback from the customer. Build up your ratings to show new potential customers.

- Job estimated value up to £500 will cost you £2.00
- Job estimated value between £501 and £2000 will cost you £5.00
- Job estimated value between £2001 and £12,000 will cost you £8.00
- Job estimated value over £12,000 will cost you £12.00
SMS text alerts (optional) - 15p per text per mobile phone. See jobs on your mobile as soon as they're posted.

How Do I Pay?
Payment is via PayPal credit card billing system. Depending on how much you pay you will get a number of credits added to your account. You use these credits to submit quotes and get the customers details. The cost to bid for a job depends on it's value, see section

Yes you can, we accept most debit cards including Maestro, Switch and Solo.
How Do You Publicise UKTradeStreet?
We advertise nationally, in directories, in the press and on-line. In addition, tradesmen who have been rated can be picked up by search engines (such as Google) which will give you additional publicity.
How Will You Help Me Grow My Business?
We attract customers who are looking for reliable tradesmen, and who are willing to pay a fair price for good quality work. We help you build a meaningful and valuable reputation in your local area. Excellent ratings lead to more work and higher earnings for you.
How Do I Know When I've Received A New Enquiry?
When a job is posted that may be of interest to you, we'll send you the details by email and by SMS message (if you signed up to receive SMS).
How Can I Get More (Or Fewer) Enquiries?
If you'd like to receive more (or less) job alerts then please check your Job Categories and Distance to Travel settings in My Account -
Job Alerts. Adjusting these will affect the number of referrals we send you.
How Do I Get A Customer's Contact Details?
By quoting for the job. Customers details are displayed on screen and sent to you via email. You can also see job and customer details in My Account -
My Quotes.
Can I Choose The Work That I Want?
We'll only send you the type of work you want, within your own local area. In each case you can still decline to quote; it is totally up to you.
How Do I Give A Quote?
Either click on the link in the email we send you, or go to the site and call up the job then click Submit Quote button. It's up to you what information you enter in the bid screen. You could simply tell the customer about your business and ask them to contact you. Or you could give the customer an estimated price, an itemised work-list, start date and estimated duration for the work. The price is normally firmed up after seeing the work. We recommend to our customers they only accept quotes in writing.
How Do I Get (Or Stop) Mobile Text (SMS) Messages?
Log onto the site and select
Job Alerts in 'My Accounts' page. Un-tick 'Receive Text Messages' in the SMS Alerts section.
How Can I Tender For A Job When The Description Is Insufficient? Can I Request More Information?
It is not possible to ask for further details about a job without actually submitting a quote and getting the customers details. In cases where the description is insufficient to provide even an approximate quote, then in your tender message simply confirm you are interested in providing a quote, as well as any other information relevant to the customer, information about your business etc.
